Welcome to Book III in this series. In this book we will explore your post-service health benefits, as well as both federal and state veteran’s benefits which you’ve earned. VA benefits are common to each branch of service, so the information herein applies whether you were a Soldier, Sailor, Marine, Airman or Coast Guardsman.
In Section 1 of Book III we will look at the post-service health care options you have available to you. We talk about the vast network available to you to ensure you have access to help you with any medical issue in the future. Included in this section is a comprehensive list of VA websites and phone numbers, as well as information about the Veterans Choice Program, Crisis Prevention, Mental Health Care, the VA Caregiver Program, and much more.
In Section 2 we discuss the special groups of Veterans as identified by the VA. These groups have specific benefits and services available to them, and we outline these benefits. Included in the groups are Combat Veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, OEF/OIF/OND, as well as Former Prisoners of War, Elderly Veterans, Women Veterans, Minority Veterans, Native American Veterans, Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual (LGB) Veterans, and Veterans who are homeless, living overseas, or incarcerated.
In Section 3 we discuss your life insurance options and their associated benefits. Each of these options will also have websites to facilitate your application.
